The client totally snapped the left hinge from the document feeder where it attaches so they need the lower frame replaced. I have the parts manual but can't find the part # for the lower document feeder assembly I don't see a part # listed for 548 and 564.

I noticed they have certain parts listed and these parts were not listed. I would hate to quote an entire doc feeder for a broken frame.Comment

You need bulletin K230. It's a known issue for about 5-6 models, including M3540idn & 306ci.Comment

Sometimes the cost of these things surprise you. And besides, how long would it take to swap over everything? I doubt the frame just pops off without a myriad of wires, shafts, rollers, clips etc.Comment

You have a point and we have been there with several 406ci broken lower frames in the past. The client already stated to me that if the cost is prohibitive to them, they would just leave the doc feeder broken and just spend that money on a stand alone scanner. I told them they would be looking at a minimum of two hours labor ($370) plus parts to rebuild it and then you run into the issue of when it breaks again.Comment

I have trouble charging a customer for a defective part as long as they have a service contract. The grease in the hinges degrades the plastic and has been changed. That's why the sheets have been added as well.Attached Files👍 2Comment

Why would you be charging them if they have a service contract?Comment

The entire Doc feeder (302V093011) is less than $400...... why have all the cost of labor when you can be in & out in a total of 20 minutes or so. I have replaced 2 of these & 1 was under contract, I didn't cover the DF, but I did cover the labor. The other, the customer was very aggressive & always trying to close the feeder with books on the glass... (a library).. once I replaced, I showed him to keep a white towel to lay over the book & glass, no black edges & no broken frame on DF. any more.Comment
