    [Dead] Kyocera M6526CDN Error F375 & F246 & (Y) Toner improperly installed.

Hi, We have a Kyocera M6526CDN that has not even done <6000 prints.

It was working perfectly until we went to replace the Yellow Toner.
Then we got the "The Toner Container is Improperly Installed" error.
Putting the old empty one back in made this go away.
We tried multiple times but kept getting the same error on the new non genuine toner.
Then someone suggested we remove the RF ID tag. We tried this and got the unknown toner message.
Replaced the tag and back to the "Improperly Installed" error.

Then for no reason while shutting the lid we must have bumped the FAX button.
As soon as it closed we got the following errors.
    F246
    F375
    Turn printer Off & On.

However every power on now results in the F375 error returning.

Does anyone know the "Key Hold" combination to create a reset?

We have tried re-seating all the developers and drums but this did not help.

I read somewhere that the F375 error might be a firmware bug caused by incomplete Fax'ing. (Perhaps when I bumped the button while closing?)

Does anyone have an idea what the error codes are? Or better still a complete chart of these error codes for future help?

Does anyone have the latest FIRMWARE?
    Currently running...
    Scanner - 2PV_1200.001.003
    Panel - 2KX_7000.000.002

Latest Firmware for our other 2x Kyocera Printers would also be handy while we are at it if anyone can help?

    Kyocera M5526CDW
    Kyocera FS-C5016N

    Appreciate any assistance.

EDIT: I have since done some googling. It seems some Kyocera's around this era suffer from a FAX firmware bug resulting in the F375 error.

Sure enough I found this YouTube video.

I tried the same with mine. Basically remove the FAX card from the rear. The printer works fine. No error.
Replace the card and the error returns. It seems a Firmware update is needed.
However Kyocera do not make the files available online.

Our other issue remains with the NON OEM (Y) toner and error. Replacing the OEM empty (Y) removes the error.

Remove fax card, run U021, install fax card again.
Compare drive coupling from both yellow toners and you will see the reason why coupling won't fit and why you get this message.
You will not be happy in near future with non OEM toner!

      Excellent. Thank you.

Yes this cleared the error and allowed the printer to work again with FAX card installed.

Yes the non OEM Toner is necessary unfortunately.
The printer was donated to a Non Profit Ham Radio Group to be used for cheap production of news letters etc.

I myself have a M5526CDW and it will only ever get OEM Toners.

However a full set of toners for mine is ~AU$650. Where as aftermarket is only AU$53 total.

So I can understand why they are not going OEM.

I still get the "Toner not installed properly" on the Non OEM Toner.
I have looked at the drives on both cartridges and can not see any difference at all. It has me puzzled.

I am considering just trying to refill the old cartridge with the contents of the new one.
Messy but it might solve their problem for now.

Again, thank you for your help.

        Pick the fake

I can't see the difference and it still has me beat why the "Improperly Installed" error from the after market one.

In the long run, with these Kyocera A4 models the non oem's WILL COST THEM/YOU MORE in the long run with service calls, blown developing units, toner clogging in the transfer belt, etc. We have been down that non OEM road with these machines and have even dropped a few clients that insisted on using the non oem toners in them totally disregarding our statements to use oem toners only. The reason we have dropped a few clients was because of excessive service calls due to their continued use of generic toners in these A4 machines and all the problems associated with them. Another reason was the client(s) always complaining about toner issues, refusals to pay bills, etc. One client went as far as slandering our company because they thought copier was a lemon, but insisted on using generic toners, disregarding our recommendations for use oem toners. Best of luck to you and your clients with those non oem toners in these machines as they will turn into money pits.

            Fair enough. I totally understand.
The printer btw was donated for only a $20 gesture to the original company.
            It has done <6000 pages.
So even if it did meet an early death the group is not out of pocket.

I will see what OEM is worth, if I can find them.

There is no service contract etc to be concerned about.

And I'm sorry that you have incurred so much pain dealing with similar in the industry.

I personally believe Kyocera to be the best and always recommend it.

Agreed, but, Kyocera only plays well with OEM toners.

I have spent the evening searching for OEM toners.
Very uncommon here. There is a huge market for non genuine and many on offer. 😞

However I have just found OEM on clearance from Officeworks for $191 each.
Well under any other price I could find. So it seems the market for OEM is very poor here.

Officeworks is a major supplier for such products here and is clearing out all their genuine kyocera stock.

I guess the service agents in our country can also expect some unhappy campers in the near future. 😞

Remove all 4 cartridges and reassemble step by step.
When you close the toner cover, on the right side you can see the movement from cartridge drive.
If this drive won't fit to 1 cartridge you will get this message.
In the upper left corner behind high voltage pwb there you find the switch for correct coupling from toner drive.
