I think it has scanning software you need to load. Not familiar with that model.

If you mean scan to pc from the 3640, yes. Both have to be connected to the network, thru ethernet.
AFAIK you can't scan thru the USB

You need special fimware, unless they are running an old version of windows. Those machines didn't support SMB V2 or V3, which is needed to scan to Windows 10.
        Hope that helps !

Possible, but mainly as a Pull scan operation, Send protocols on this system are too old except for FTP.

Scan FROM PC (Pull) -> TWAIN driver (same as FS-2626, available on product CD), WIA drivers might be built into Windows (USB or Network) Try plug and play discovery in Printers and Scanners.

Scan TO PC (Push) -> FTP is best bet, SMB 1.0 only will not support newer systems and no TLS for email (Network only)

That machine is what we call...'rare'

I would suggest using the firmware for security purposes, however, SMB V1 scanning is possible on Windows 10 by accessing the Windows Features, and turning on "SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support." All 3 boxes need to be checked and the PC will need to be rebooted after making the change. Just wanted to throw this out in case anyone needs it in the event limited options or specific customers.
