    Waste box clogged popping noise

Anyone experiencing the same issues on the 2,3 and 4 series with this problem? I have replaced the waste box, feed motor assly and occasionally i will replace the waste toner bottle unit. Kyocera dosen't seem to think they have a problem with this but i am consistantly seeing this issue. I even spoke with my regional kyocera service rep and he also didn't have any suggestions other than to replace the waste box and feed drive assly. I just had this happen on a 4054ci twice in two months. I also had one yesterday on a 5052ci. I tried looking for a qa and bulletin on kyocera's service now portal but can't find anything. Btw all these machines are running oem toners. If anyone has a qa or fix for this issue it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Yes, multiple times since the 2 series was introduced. I have seen it on the 2 and 3 series but not on the 4 series, yet anyway. Typically I will replace the WTB unit (waste toner bottle receptacle) and the box waste assy. (waste toner auger). Sometimes the ITB will be affected and replaced as well. In my experience the receptacle is the culprit. I have found it to have either have come apart and/or was assembled incorrectly from the factory. I don't know which. Whatever the case is the gear won't always engage with the bottle. As a result the bottle will not turn and the waste toner backs up in the system until it can not turn the auger. I have repaired more of the receptacles than I have replace by disassembling it and assembling it correctly.

    FWIW I hope this helps.

If the waste container is forced in upside down it pops the WTB unit apart and the container stops turning. That's where the problem starts

I have seen this on the 2, 3 and 4 series also. Typically it has to do with the WTB unit backing up and causing the toner to pack hard / melt in the Waste toner auger assembly. You can remove all 3 units, clean them out , you'll get toner boulders, reassemble and you'll be fine, Just make sure the little spring agitator in the waste transfer tube to the WTB is mowing freely and there are no rocks in there. Must of done more than I can count. Not to bad a job once you get the feel for it. Also No Compatible toner ever! Also check the gear drive on the ITB belt cleaner as they dump into that area of the waste toner auger. If the gear has broken it will pack up the ITB cleaner again.

If all else fails read the Service Manual!

If that fails, meet me at the pub and we will discuss it.

I have often wondered how that happens. I haven't been able to duplicate it though. Thanks for the explanation.

We have had to do a large majority of these also. The most common denominator for us was after market toner. Although it became a necessity during the supply shortages of COVID, some managers/owners didn't see the benefit in going back to the genuine toner until after being beat over the head and in the wallet with clogged waster toner assys.
