    [Misc] KM-C3232 touch screen

I (attempted) repair of a Kyocera C3232 that had a bad touch screen (was left in a warehouse uncovered). I first tried to clean, but ended up ordering a new screen. Upon putting back together (with extra screws left over , the screen worked great except that a couple of the numbers of the number pad did not work (happened to be one for the passcode). Opened back up and found some broken wires, repaired and put back together. Touch screen is now dim and only can be seen in the dark with a side light on it, but works fine otherwise. Tried opening a couple times, once to make sure brightness control was set in correctly but still dim.
Anyone have a clue what might have happened? I didn't take touch screen out when I fixed the number pad. Not sure if the "cushion" I used under the touchpad failed, it was older foam tape.
It is for a nonprofit so trying to help them save money. Does it sound like I need to order a new touch screen? What can be used for the cushion other than buying a huge roll of the proper foam tape (This is the only repair I've been working on). You may have unplugged or broken the fluorescent backlight, or it's power supply. It's a white glass tube, about 2mm diameter, and maybe 100mm long. There will be two wires leading from the backlight to the rectangular power supply board, to the control board.

Also check the ribbon cables for proper connection. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
