    CS-2050, Code CF-610...

    Hey guys. I know this is an old machine, but wondered if I could get it going. Very little about this code here, only one post that tells me that it might be hard drive related, and that using simulation U989 to "scan" the disk, but not format it.
    I'm assuming using Mita's 10871087 gets me into simulation?

      Here is the cryptic information that I have. Make of it what you will::

      CF61x: An error is detected at the Report Compiling section. Turn power Off/On. 1) Reformat HDD U024 FULL; 2) Initialize backup memory U021; 3) Repl main PWB; 4) Repl HDD; 5) Retrieve USBLOG and contact SAD.

      CF610: Component: SSTUP. Category: OS. Error in the SystemStartUp (Thread generation, Entity data acquisition, DiskManager operation). Turn power Off/On.

      CF610: Undefined. Turn power Off/On. 1) Run simulation U989 HDD Scandisk.

      CF610: System Start Error. Turn power Off/On.

      Were it me I would do the following things, stopping at the point that the errors disappear:

      1) Power down. Disconnect network cable. Power up. Run the machine. If it doesn't error out you may be receiving corrupt print data or non-print data via the network.
      2) Re-load or update firmware. Also update the NS-30 firmware (it's not part of the regular firmware update).
      3) Collect U917 data backup. Format HDD. Re-load U917 data backup.
      4) Replace HDD. Reload U917 data backup.
      If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

          There is NO hard drive in the Copystar CS-2050... not sure where that information came from, but the CS-2050 doesn't have a hard drive. Are you sure of the model number? or is the error code a c610 or something else... I am intrigued

              OK, well I got the machine model wrong.. it's a 4050, not a 2050... does that make any difference?

              And I performed the U989 and U024, both said "Execute", which I did, but then never went anywhere after that.. are they supposed to time out and tell you to reboot or something? Because neither of them did.

                  YEAH, That makes a big difference... Turn machine off, unplug from the outlet, remove the rear cover, find the hard drive, (small rectangle about the size of a pack of cigarettes) unplug the hard drive, plug the machine back in & see if you are able to make a copy. If you can make a copy, you need a new Hard drive. You can find them pretty cheap on ebay, hope this helps, that is as far as I can help. That is a real old machine from around 2005 or so. good luck

                      Thanks for all that! Is the hard drive able to be replaced with a generic one? (not proprietary?)
                      Or only one meant for that machine? And will the U codes format the drive once installed, or is there firmware involved?

                          Yeah, huge difference between FalconIII and Atlantis1.

                          The hard drive holds addressbook, scan credentials, job account ID's, user boxes, and page data. Just install the new drive, and format it in the machine. You may need to restore addressbook, etc. =^..^=

                                  Yes, but it will only format and make usable the original design capacity.

                                  IIRC it is a 5.25" form factor non-ssd SATA drive. I heard tell of people replacing them with SSD's but I do not remember if it was Falcon III or later.

                                  If you were to try the SSD's you might need a cradle adapter.

                                      Thanks for that.. no need to use SSD's, I just have plenty of hard drives and just wanted to make sure it wasn't like Toshiba, which are proprietary.

                                          OK, so went out to the customer to replace the drive, pulled the back cover (and others) off and could not FIND the hard drive? Where is it in this thing? I tried the 989 again and let it run overnight, to see if that would change anything. Haven't heard back from the customer yet, but just needed to know where they hid the drive on this thing?

                                              OK, so the customer tells me the machine came back to life, after I left it overnight to format with the 989 code.
