    Kyocera M5526cdw toner

We started evaluating our contracts on our desktop units and the supplies of our Kyocera desktop units, especially the Kyocera M5526cdws are losing significant amounts of money. I wanted to see if anyone has noticed that the fields are not nearly as much as the mfg suggests and or that the color supplies are being deminished when printing black and white? Also, if maybe there might be something wrong with these units?

What's the page coverage? What does the report say?

We have about 20 of those and everything is OK, but we use only OEM toners. We do regular maintenance to avoid TBA failure.

With these it’s just a case of “you get what you pay for”
Absolutely not a machine we would ever support on a toner inclusive contract due to the small and expensive cartridges.
Our minimum machine would be a MA3500ci

We have a lot of these under contract and actually noticed that the color cartridges are being used up quickly even on black and white prints. I guess we can print out a service report to see coverage. I guess I am not 100% sure what is TBA failure?

As for the Kyocera MA3500ci we only have a couple of those in the fields but we also noticed similar results with the MA6635cidns

We had a ton of these at one customer, and then some sprinkled about the region, and overall they weren't a bad machine. A lot of them were very low usage, so can't say much for profitability, but the drums suck and need replaced far too often(even within the 3 year warranty). We also had a ton of issues with toners not being recognized, and replaced parts on two machines to fix it, but the fix is tearing apart 90% of the machine to replace to boards because Kyocera's fix with the springs never actually did anything.

We've stopped selling Kyocera desktops all together, thankfully, way too many issues at least with this series and the 6635 series, but the m2640 was pretty decent, rarely had issues on those as far as I can remember. It wouldn't surprise me though if you're having issues with yields, those cartridges only last 4k anyway.

Back when we had these, we definitely had a bunch of machines that they only did B/W on, and they would complain about replacing the color cartridges, but it's because of it doing process control so often, regardless of what colors are being used. We pretty much could never use aftermarket toners on anything newer from Kyocera, the machines wouldn't read them.........then again, this model had issues with reading genuine a lot, too.
