This may be normal for these printers but when it' showing "Sleeping" on the screen, it takes in excess of 20 seconds to print with no indication it even received the print until it starts printing. That's a long time when you have customers waiting on the print.

I now have the printer in quick recovery mode with a longer sleep timer and it's working pretty good so far today. I'll keep on adjusting on it and go from there.

I appreciate all of the responses and information. It has been a lot of help!

20 seconds is a long time for someone whos impatient, i know the customer is always right. its not very long, some take longer. but adjust the sleep timer as needed. you stated after the reset it went to sleep after 25 minutes? but didnt you say that you set it for 25 minutes? at least that is progress.

Sorry, I did set it for 25 minutes and forgot to say. The printers have worked flawlessly today. I think the biggest problem is that this department used to use old HP m602's that printed very quickly, and they got used to that.

This printer is designed for heavy-duty operation. The time it takes to print is due to the fuser warming up. The longer the standby time, the shorter the fuser life. HP printers are better suited for the type of printing you described, because the fusers don't take as long to warm up. For example: HP M402, HP M404, etc.

I had a 3554ci. We normally set everything to quick recovery. This one wouldn't wake up with out power cycling. The hotline had me change it to energy saver and disable all of the sleep rules, which took care of it.
            Hope that helps !

Yes on Disabling Sleep rules. Do that on all my machines on setup.

I had that problem too. I turn the sleep mode settings off at setups now.
I also had a couple customers complain about it printing slow, so we changed it to "full recovery mode" and that fixed it.
