2 and 3 series B/W & Color machines with Black Developer spewing in cassettes

I've seen a bunch of 2 and 3 series both b/w and clr machines with black carrier leaking to the paper cassettes, all the way down to tray2.

We've replaced developers and drums but seems there is another leak somewhere.

Below each developer at the front of the copier frame, there is a port for toner dropping down.

Perhaps a leak is from there? Anyone seen this before?

I'm about to see 2 or 3 machines today on this problem.

We have quite a few out with some running pretty good volumes, haven't seen it. OEM toner ?
    Hope that helps !

Yes OEM Toner. My other guess is that there may be residual developer sitting in parts of the frame from a previous spill from the bad developers and over time they get spilled into the cassettes.

By the time the toner/developer makes it's way into the tray, the front of the machine is full of spilled toner/developer. It takes a lot of vacuuming and bumping and vacuuming to get it all out of there. The tray itself will hide loose toner under the gear rack assembly as well. Just takes a lot of work to get it all out of there.

We've seen quite a few, all on OEM toner. Some high volume some low volume. No real rhyme or reason.

            +1

Also, it happens on the slower AND faster models.

We took apart a faster dev unit that was dropping toner and found it to be leaking through plastic bushings.

I've seen this a lot as well, above tray one there's like a fan grill you can peel off. Usually that is full of dev but even if you clean that it leaks for ages even after replacing dev. I usually keep tapping it with screw driver till it slows.

When you take off the inner front cover you'll see a vent port at the bottom with a screen over it. That front cover tends to fill up full with developer. So last month you changed the developer unit and that's still fine, but you start to get jamming calls for tray #1 ... then #2, then #3. The developer sifting down from that front cover coats top piece of paper, then the rollers (new or old, it doesn't matter).

It takes a good bit of vacuuming to get all that developer out of the cover and frame. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
