Customers gets a good solid dial tone when they press "hook" on the screen, no static. They're in the next town over, so trying to get an idea before i go, I'll be bringing an extra fax board to swap out and a portable phone to hook up so I can call from my cell phone and see if it picks up. From what I've seen in various threads though, it could be a setting but I don't see what could have changed all by itself.
I had a Ricoh that would not fax out or receive faxes. Good dial tone, nothing looked wrong. Customer had the exact same machine in their show room. They swapped them around before i drove out. Problem didn't follow the machine. Phone company fixed with out even sending out a tech. Never did find out what they did.

The basic diagnostics are always the came. Connect a POTS handset to the line. Call your cellphone from the POTS. Does it ring? Can you hear static? Your phone will display a phone number (occasionally the correct phone number if the line is dedicated to faxing). Call the POTS from your cellphone. Does it ring? Is it a distinctive ring? Can you hear static?

9 times out of 10 one or more of these functions is not working, and it has nothing to do with the MFP (remember the MFP is not even connected, it is a POTS handset). You cannot do this from the office. And if you ask an enduser to do this, there is a 50/50 chance that you will get an accurate answer. Just go out there. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Have you tried a different Fax card? 2 screws to check it. That would eliminate the fax card being the issue.
