    5053ci fax 12 not receiving fax

    5053ci fax 12
    I have a 5053ci with a fax 12 card and it sends faxes fine, but it will not receive, it will never answer.
    The blue data light will flash but it never picks up or answers every time. We gave them a loaner M3655
    And that machine works fine send and receive. The two machine are sitting side by side and just switching the same fax line over to each machine the M3655 works fine the 5053ci will never receive or answer. The phone line is a analog phone line. I have compare the settings, umodes between the two machines and not finding anything different. I have replace the fax card and main pwb in the 5053ci

    Did you do a fax reset? SIM 600

    also is auto recieve on? Is fax forwarding off?

      Is it receiving documents, then forwarding to an obsolete email destination or folder? =^..^=
      If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

        Thanks for the replys,
        The fax never answers never pickup the line, I call it with my cell it just rings and never picks up.
        I did do the resets, u600,U601 auto RX is on and fax forward is off.

          Is it going through a surge protector or any kind of filter?

          if so bypass it.

          Definitely a weird one
          You should run the output page and compair settings with a working one.

            Make sure your phone cord from the machine to the wall only has the center two wires. Sometimes that can cause this symptom.

              I agree with darry. Make sure the phone line is a 2 line cord. I had a 3145 that would only receive from certain locations and not from others. I had the phone company come in and check the line. He watched the call come in from one of the locations that would not receive and found that the machine received the call and then terminated it. It turned out that changing the phone cord to a two line cord fixed the issue. This is not the same as what you are seeing, but it is similar and worth looking at.

                I've seen the cord cause this issue, but the fax 12 only has the two center pins in the terminal. A four wire line shouldn't affect it the same as previous models.

                  i found 1 similar case with 6003i and M2540 system.
                  M2540 (loaner) works well, but 6003i never answered.
                  Cause:
                  FAX can't be received because FAX RX image memory area in SSD was full.
                  Fax RX preview document was set to ON. (I don`t know where you can set it)
                  With new SSD system worked well again.
                  Maybe you can give that a try after U024/ SSD

                  I found it in our data base but i was not involved, i am not the specialist for Fax

                    This is a long shot, but have you tried turning error correction off?

                    Also,(another long shot) is the fax card firmware the same as the machine firmware? In the past, I found out the hard way that the firmware in the card and in the machine being different can cause some weird and wonderful problems. I found this on different manufactures. To this day, if I put a fax card in a machine, it is followed with a firmware update.

                      it sounds like a phone line issue. if you press "manual rx" while the line is ringing, does it pick up and/or receive?

                        Did you ever find the fix for this? I'm having the exact same problem with a taskalfa 6525. Been there for years working fine, all of a sudden not receiving faxes. Customer didn't realize for a week cause faxes were sending out normally. Customer called phone company and they did a test and said everything looked good. Customers gets a good solid dial tone when they press "hook" on the screen, no static. They're in the next town over, so trying to get an idea before i go, I'll be bringing an extra fax board to swap out and a portable phone to hook up so I can call from my cell phone and see if it picks up. From what I've seen in various threads though, it could be a setting but I don't see what could have changed all by itself.

                          Make sure it's using a 2 wire line. I believe these machines had all the pins on the fax port. All the new ones only have 2 pins.

                            It is been my experience that when the phone company say they tested line, they just tested it at the switch. They did not test it near or at the location where the service is being provided. The customer needs to get the phone company to come out and check that line.

                              There is a bulletin for VoIP adjustments. Its old but it helps sometimes.
