    Kyocera 6525 main board

Hey all, I had a 6525 get hit by lightening through the cat 5 cable, still works fine as a copier but blew the print part of it. Looking around, all I have is a 6530 and 255 for parts. The 255 is the same machine except for the board, so I looked up and it's saying the 6525/6530 are the same board. Not sure how that works being they have different speeds, is there anything I need to do to make this swappable? Just stick it in and try it, do I need to swap chips, will it make the 6525 run faster lol??? I have no idea, but those boards are expensive so I'm going to have to try something here.

There will be an EEPROM on that main board. Swap the original one over to the board you are going to install, and load firmware first, before doing anything else. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I've got it pulled, doesn't appear to be one on this board. I've got a lot of these 6525's in the field and never had to swap a main board before which is where the print is also, guess I've been lucky. I think on this one all I have to do is swap it and run an 04 sim in the service mode so it will accept the new serial number but I was hoping someone that has had to do it will verify. The 6525's are a little different than some others in their servicing, kinda of an economical version, but they have held up well parts wise and cost wise which is why I like them.

I seem to remember that the CS-255 a common C3200 error caused by defective main PWB's. And you did have to run U004 at installation. =^..^=

Not on the Main board, just the Engine board.

Darryl1322 was correct, chip was on the engine board. All I had to do was swap the main board, let it code out for serial number mismatch, and then run an 04 sim. It even kept the meter count cause all that info is on the engine board. I'm still having an issue with it not connecting on the network, but the copier's network is booting up properly and the ethernet port lights are flashing when I turn it on like they're supposed to searching for an IP address. I don't know if there are more issues with the copier since it was a lightening strike that came through the cat5 port that caused the problems in the first place, or if they have more network issues elsewhere and their IT guy hasn't found it yet. Doesn't matter, this customer wasn't using scan and only printing from one computer, I put it as a local printer and it works fine. Should have been that way from the start then they prolly wouldn't have had to replace the main board.
