Thank you for good pictures. You indeed have SSD and not HDD.

My apologies for the USA centric reply as the HDD is standard only on 120v 356ci-406ci models.

So you have EU-356ci with SSD and I can only refer to US-306ci instructions for it's location:
      NewPic.jpg

NOTE: For '3' series A3 machines like the 6053ci series, the SSD is tricky to deal with. Existing SSD in machine has many partitions and if they are removed the SSD becomes unresponsive. These machines will not boot without an SSD, but they will boot without an HDD. So like always machines will generally boot with-out an HDD (especially when it's optional) but they use the SSD as the BOOT partition for the Linux operating system.

Plus they are M2 SATA, this looks to be mounted on a interface card and might not even be removable and then you would need a PC connectd M2 SATA cradle hooked to USB to even see the partitions and format anything. (Yes, I've done it)

May as well order a new one.

So then yours is NOT mounted in the Interface Slot for options?

Yes, that shows the SSD mounted to the MAIN PWB. It should be behind the little black fan assembly and it IS in a typical M2 slot:
