Kyocera 5551ci smb scanning problems (Windows 10/11)

    Hello all!

We have a scanning issue with a 5551ci in a windows 10/11 environment. Scans to smb were working until recently. We were advised that "IT" was working on a security camera issue and did not work after this. We went through our normal barrage of network settings to try and get a successful scan transimission with no avail. Trying to pinpoint the issue we created a local isolcated network and turned SMB1 on and scan jobs just stayed in waiting/hold in the job log. We are a Konica Minolta service provider and to not have access to Kyocera firmware. From your experiences would firmware resolve this problem? If so, we will proceed to purchasing/procuring the newest firmware build for this model.

    Thank you for your input!

When you say "isolated network" you mean a router and a laptop different from the customer network? If that is the case and scans still don't arrive, it might be an issue with the printer. From what you said, in the customer network, it looks like they added some firewall rules, something that is blocking the printer.

Yes, there was a firmware problem in this series which was corrected with all firmwares after update below:

      3051ci/3551ci/4551ci/5551ci Firmware Pack 6.02BFirmware Information
      Type Program No. VER. Remarks
      MAIN 2N4_2000.E06.902 E06.902 New Upgrade

      Details of Changes Topic Content
      1 SMBv2/v3 support

There was a bug where SMB2 would be used, but only work when scanning to the root of shares (root sharename only with no sub-folders in PATH), not to say that is your problem. You could test by scanning to a root.

Even if you enabled SMB1 on the Server and left SMB2 enabled there, this series had (broken)SMB2 so it would negotiate the enabled SMB2 with the server.
