    2552/3252 drum damage

    I ordered several of these models. All have a low page count on the supplies. I've found a few drums that are damaged. Visibly, I don't see any score marks, but its definitely a drum problem. I followed the drum removal instructions to the letter. The transfer belt seem to be in rather close proximity to the drum when reinstalling. The instructions say to open the right side door but I don't see where that raises the transfer belt.


    Here's a sample. It measures 93mm.

      It looks more like barber pole stripes to me: developing.

      On the other hand, 92.5mm is just right for a drum circumference. =^..^=
      If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

          I don't know why the scanned page is showing the barber pole stripes. It looks perfect to on the printed page. Some of the machines that I ordered came with the drum damage. I really don't like the design of these machines. I like the ease of removal but there's tight clearances. In an old post someone mentioned that there was a tech bulletin on this problem but they didn't post the bulletin.

              The effect in the samples is probably moire'. Maybe different technology might help ... a photo? =^..^=

                  Hi Billy,

                  i can see the stripes and i can see very old mounted parts (older than the system which would produced in 2018/ june)
                  for the dk units: cy + ye are original from factory, mg produced 2017/12 and bk would produced in 2016/06
                  for dv units: cy, ye and bk are from factory and mg from 2017/ march
                  maybe during assembling/ disassembling the drums would damaged.

                  regarding open the right door:
                  the belt is not lifted, we have here a 4 color release lever system.
                  In OFF state, all 4 primary transfer rollers are released.
                  If care is not taken during assembling/ disassembling of the belt, the drums can be damaged by the primary rollers.

                  For assembling you has to open the right cover and you has to look for the levers.

                      Make sure that you shut the machine down properly before you replace any parts on this model.

                          Thanks, KYO. I just took the belt out and I see what you're talking about. The lever locks/releases all 4 primary charge rollers. I'll be sure to pay special attention to that lever.
