    DP-7160 runs slow on legal

    We have a customer that traded in a 3553ci with a DP-7110 for a 3554ci with a DP-7160.

They are noticing that when they are copying colored legal size originals in color the document feeder runs much slower than their old machine did.

We sent a technician out to look at the new machine and so far haven't been able to explain why a newer unit would be slower.

Scanning to e-mail or PC doesn't seem to be a problem. Is there a setting to make the originals go through faster when copying in color?

There is no specification for DP feed speed in copy mode, basically it doesn't have to scan any faster than it needs to output at the rated speed for legal (21ppm). If it is outputting legal at that rate, then there is no problem, just some change in the engineering or setting.

Are they using Auto Color or Full Color, as Auto Color must pre-read to determine BW vs. Color original on every page in ACS mode and behavior in mixed color/BW copying can be changed in MM486.

MM340 can be used to allot more memory to Copy image process (value negative) if they are queueing jobs.

Thanks for the reply. Looking on KFS it says: Color selection (Copy) : Black & White. They may be selecting auto color for this type of job, I will check on that.

I agree with the idea that copy mode scan speed shouldn't be so critical. They're just unhappy that the DP-7110 appeared to be faster.

Also check error handling by system menue/ devise handling/ if image preview would set to "ON"
In this case DP will run slower.
