4501i machines overtoning or ghosting alot ???

Seems like alot of my 4501i's I still have out there running want to overtone or ghost image.

I am using all oem toner and supplies, pm kits, etc.

All routine calibrations and so forth done to no avail.

Only fix I've found is to replace new drum and dv units, but on machines that already have relatively new drums and dv's, what gives here, any input what to do to prevent overtoning and ghosting?

    Thanks

Are you vacuuming out all the waste toner tubes from the developing unit to the fan box on the back of the machine and all the filters related to that area? Most of our over toning issues come from that area not being cleaned out good.

I agree entirely, I just want to clarify the terminology: I call those fan ducts, since the fans draw away airborne toner from the developing process. When those ducts become plugged the toner piles up on the bottom lip of the developing unit, and in the registration roller cleaner, leaving smudges on the first page of a set. You can find them completely plugged. Bring your vacuum and be prepared to take apart the back of the machine to do a proper cleaning of the ducts. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Not my favorite model to work on just because of the dusting that naturally happens. When it gets excessive, I replace the developer. Over time, toner will pile up behind the transfer unit as well and get on the registration rollers and cause some print quality issues. Not a bad idea to vacuum behind there as well.

Yes, also, remove the transfer belt assembly while your at it and clean really good in there as well as that does build up with toner as well.

once you've vacuumed everything 302LH94342 seal set probably needs to be replaced as well...that is if you can still order them
