    Task Alpha 500

well, we are over 400k and having an issue. wanted to see if anyone else has seen this yet.

yesterday afternoon, right before 5, the image was b/w, but it was printing the page as yellow with black lettering. this morning the machine has a 5104 code, charger roller - Y issue. i pulled out the roller, put it in the C, and took the C and put it in the Y. still has 5104. put in a new charger roller. still 5104. the problem didnt move to the C side.

tech support seems to think its Main High Voltage PWB.

just want to check with you all to see if you have encountered this one. we are out of warranty on it already.

    thanks

update - the mail delivered the new board today. unfortunately, i've almost stripped the machine down to the frame to get to it and it seems i'm not any closer to removing the suspected bad board. the board is under the developer motors and a ton of plastic. so if you do encounter this, pack a lunch...its gonna be a long day.

Just yesterday I had the main drive pack off a Voyager, and they are built quite similarly.

The HVT came off second to last. It took me (4) hours to complete the task. To my very great relief everything still worked, without having to search for missed connectors. Whew! =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

well, replaced the hvpwb, it didnt fix the problem. replaced the drum and problem went away. not a fun way to a simple solution, but followed book and tech support instructions. tech rep was ready to pull out hair as well.

That sucks! I had a problem with my 500 not showing anything on the display. Well it turn out to be the Account didn't have clean power coming from the Wall. (no Ground) It fried the Board and it was loads of fun fixing the problem.

I had a freaky symptom where copies & prints came out orange & black. When doing the color belt test all colors came out fine except magenta, which came out pink & white stripes. The magenta test came out a perfect solid pink. Fix was run sim 464 and perform AC Calibration, drum refresh, DV refresh, then color calibration followed by half tone setting. Corrected the problem.

                this is kycera color

always start by replacing all your drums and developers... your dealer may not want to but in the end that resolves most issues... again let me repeat this is kyocera color...

Check the springs behind the developer and drum units. We had a machine that was not printing magenta. After swapping in new developer and drum units, wWe replaced above said board (High Voltage) and it fixed the problem for a few minutes. Then we lost Cyan. Upon further inspection, we found that one of the springs to the board was missing.

                  Just a heads up.
