i have a km2050 with a c4000 trouble code. the c4000 code points to the laser motor. is a bad laser motor normally the problem associated with this code? or should i be looking somewhere else. Thanks in advance for any help

Before the code happened did the customer complain about a loud whining noise? If so Kyocera had an extended warranty for laser replacement on Gen Tech bulletin #66 for laser failure, but that expired about a year ago. If the code resets and is intermittent, it can be a main charger/drum failure. If the code keeps coming back, its a laser. My mission here on Earth is to help all you Dum-Dums! -
Nice reply, I have replaced three lasers in the past 6 months on these, I usually check the CW unit first before I replace the laser. When the Corona unit start arching to the drum in many cases it will throw the laser code along with it.Comment

It is usually the LSU but I have seen a dirty or shorted primary corona grid arch to the drumComment

I've replaced a few lasers for C4000. No excessive noise, but the mirror motor bushings were snug.If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
