    KM2530 Weird problem

    FYI,
Customer called yesterday with blank copies and C4010 code (Laser). It would sometimes pass paper and sometimes stop at the drum. After replacing the laser twice and three hundred miles of cumulative driving, turns out swapping the drum and developing unit fixed it. Don't know why it threw the code on two different lasers, but wish I would have changed out the drum and developing unit on the first trip (seeing how they were in the truck the whole time.) Awful first two days of the week, hopefully will get better. I was about at the end of my rope with this one. Thought this might help someone in the future......

Do you have any theories why you might get a polygon mirror motor error from a drum & dev unit? Maybe primary charge arcing?

    Thanks for posting. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

That was my first thought, but, I actually replaced the charge unit with the same results. Granted, it was pulled from a used machine, but good. it wasn't until I replaced the entire unit that it started working again. Copies looked great after that.

on the old falcon series machines the mc shorting out caused all those problems. sometimes if you put a mc (new or used) it would continue to do so but if you swapped out the whole drum unit problem would go away. i assume it was some kind of mismatch of new and old drum and mc's.
