    KM5050 Strange problem!

Hi I'm having problems with a KM5050 in our Workshop, we've recently come to turn the machine on and we've been met with a blank black screen. However when we open the front door the "Program Loading" image appears, but the panel sticks on that screen. More so the main motor doesn't rotate when the screen is loaded so I was wondering if any of you could help me with this problem? Or if anyone has had this problem previously

    Thanks in advance.

I'd start but reloading the firmware, if it will take it. If it fails you've got a bad Code DIMM or main PWB. Firmware is currently at v. 2.41, 12-03-09. If you are an enduser I recommend getting a tech to come in and take care of this. Firmware is the operating system for your MFP. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Thanks for that, we've tried to update the firmware via USB but we've had no luck with it. Sadly we are the tech's, just incredibly under qualified lol.
We've also already switched the main PWB with another machine along with according DIMMs but still no luck. Is there any other help you could give us. Thanks.

We have now formated hard drive no luck. Also used a flash card firmware no luck. Changed dimms no luck. Just blue screen with cfb31. Could it be epromms?

Unplug all options & try powering on. Then go through & uplug 1 by 1 off the main pwb & cycle power.
          Hope that helps !

Wow! You've already covered most of my ideas. The CF card upgrade has better success than the USB, so that is how I usually do it. I suppose the op panel DIMM could be corrupt. Do you have an op panel to swap in for diagnostic purposes? The CFB31 points to corrupt main firmware or bad main EEPROM, so it looks as though the EEPROM is next. It's probably too late to recover any user data, so you'll lose some of it for sure. And only change one EEPROM at a time. If you change the main and engine EEPROMs at the same time the machine will lose it's serial #.

I'm curious what data wil be lost. Please post back. =^..^=

I had this problem recently after trying to update the firmware. While in the process of updating it stopped half way through .When i rebooted it was locked in the "program loading screen" .The problem was caused by a failed engine DIMM. When i replaced it I was able to update the firmware and the problem was solved.Hope this helps.

I had the same problem, most of the parts had been replaced but no success. I also put this problem in the forum but no concrete solution. I solved the problem, there was a wire cut between the Main board and control panel. This is a red wire in the cable going to YC11 of Main board. By taking this cable in and out, wire had been cut and not visible in the naked eye. Try to measure the continuity. I hope this will help you in solving the problem.
