    FS-2000D USB port issue

We have an FS-2000D with a weird USB port problem. Parallel printing is fine as is IB-30 printing. However, when attempting to plug in the USB cable, Windows detects hardware is present (says "Found New Hardware")but then says a problem occurred during hardware installation. Tried different USB cables, firmware updates and finally a new print controller board. Anyone else have this problem?
But I'm trying, Ringo. I'm trying real hard... to be the Shepherd.

Did you try to print anyway after getting the "problem occurred during hardware installation" message?

There for a while I was looking at a steady supply of Samsung USB printers, and it is not uncommon to get that message, and still be able to print just fine. If it won't print you don't have a lot of choices. You can try firmware, but it's unlikely to do any good. The only really likely solution is the main PWB.

I'm sure you already thought of this. Like me, you probably don't want to be one of those techs that orders a board on the first attempt to fix. I don't see any other options, though. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Yeah, I tried manually selecting one of the USB ports when doing a printer install, but no go. Tried firmware, different usb cables, etc. Unfortunately, a new controller board failed to fix this issue even after updating the firmware on it. (I had to try one after exhausting all other possibilities). I figured I'd throw a Hail Mary with a post as I have no idea what could be causing the USB port to malfunction since I replaced the USB port. Thanks for the response, though. It was a lot more useful than the one I got on dnet...

Power Supply? What else could have any affect? =^..^=

I suppose it's possible since usb ports carry power. I'll have to see if I can scrounge up another 2000D to swap parts with. Oye vey...

          Thanks Blackcat

Has anyone called tech support and gone through the MAC address/serial number restore process that is talked about in Tech Bulletin #2 for the FS-2000D? If so, what exactly is the process?

Secure.exe restores MAC addresses after C150 error engine updates. It's in the firmware pack

The firmware pack available on KMAconnect? The one I downloaded yesterday only had the two firmware files for system and engine. Where did you get this other firmware pack?

I've never heard about this "Secure.exe".
My firmware also has just engine and system (03-26-2009). =^..^=

I know there is some procedure to re-enter the MAC address and serial number, but so far i haven't been able to find any information on it. Whatever it is, it's a well kept secret...

Does it print USB from your laptop?
