    Falcon 3 developer clumps

Has anyone else ever experienced developer clumping in little bunches on the outer edges of the mag roller on the Falcon 3 series(3050-4050-5050)? You can tell where it is by the spacing on the page which matches the circumference of the mag roller and it's always on one end.
You get what looks kinda like hash marks at the top or bottom of the page.

Got any idea why that happens? It's not a real big issue but I have a couple it happens on every two or three months. Same machines so there is a consistency somewhere.

Have not seen this on the F3's but did see something similar on the F2's. Check the air filters, we found that they were getting packed with dust and interfering with the air flow. This was causing a heat buildup in the machine that cooked the toner onto the mag roller.

I've seen it too on a couple of my Falcon IIIs, but don't have any clear idea why. Dry-wiping the developer cylinder clears it up for a short time, but it returns. And it's always the same couple machines.

Technically, this machine is monocomponent. So no developer, only toner. But monocomponent toners are more prone to this effect. In Canon terminology it's called "mottling". =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

SAme here I just use a dry cloth and clear them up. You have to be persistent or it won't go away. That air filter deal sounds interesting especially since I didn't check them.

could this be as simple as the toner cart not being shaken before a change?

Unlikely. The auger system would have broken up any clumps before getting into the developing unit. =^..^=

It was Katun's fault for me.

Finally convinced my **cough** frugal boss to stop buying it for this model.

It's not Katun. We use OEM and it's standard in the service contract so all our customers know they get it from us.
If not we set them straight.

I agree about the air filters..I/ve seen some unreal clogged one's. If you don't replace them, at least remove and blow them out with air...there are several...6 or 7 i think

was more thinking about mixing, not actual lumps & clumps getting past toner cart. i guess a more reasonable explaination would be heat/humidity
