TASKalfa 500ci stuck at TASKalfa logo screen

I've tried everything short of replacing the main board to clear this. It gets past the Welcome screen, but just sits at the logo screen. I tried updating/downgrading the firmware several times as well. What have I missed?
But I'm trying, Ringo. I'm trying real hard... to be the Shepherd.

Have you tried switching on the small "boot switch" under the ops board and then loading the firmware with a CF card?
The gene pool could use a little chlorine.

I heard about the DIP switch, but I couldn't really locate it. Do you have to take the OP panel completely apart to get to it?

When you've flashed the firmware do any of the firmware updates fail? If so, which ones? Pay particular attention to the last screen after the display firmware. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

No............but it is easy to miss its quite small so keep looking . Like blackcat says when you have updated the firmware check the end screen for any failures.

If still no joy I'd be looking at hard drive and/or dimm as the next step.

          Good luck

Ok, found the switch (very tiny). Still no luck, but found error during firmware update. End screen shows Panel firmware error and also says "unable to find master file" and then the name of the panel firmware file, DL_PANL.2H7. This file was present on all levels of firmware I tried. Is panel firmware stored on the CODE DIMM or on the panel itself?

I'm not 100% positive on this, but I seem to recall a discussion with the hotline, specifying that all the firmware resides on the CODE DIMM. There are no other firmware DIMMs on this machine. =^..^=

That's kinda what I thought, but since the panel has it's own boot switch for firmware loading purposes I was thinking that maybe the firmware for the panel resided on the same board the switch is on. I don't what these users are doing to these machines... Oye vey.

Ok now we had one like that and wound up replacing the main DIMM on the main board itself.
Lots of fun. Great family adventure when they do these things.

does the machine have a fax on it? if so remove the fax and load firmware and see what happens. then if ok, reinstall fax and then redo firmware.

No fax board on this one. Looks like I'll be ordering a CODE DIMM for this machine. Thanks guys.

The code dimm is where I'd start. Not sure if you are aware of it or not, but if by some chance you end up finding yourself ordering a main pwb for the op panel or something else in there, it depends on the machine serial # as to which parts manual you use. They redesigned the operation panel. So now, depending on the serial# of machine, depends on which version of parts manual you use. Not all of the op panel parts are the same (like the pwb's). Just a little FYI for you in case you weren't aware. Hope the dimm works out for ya.. Good Luck..
