    Copystar CS-C4035E Fax Ring Parameters

My customer has this device that carries the phone line over the network cable. It works great, but here's the problem:

When receiving internal faxes it rings with a normal ring. When receiving external faxes it rings with a distinctive ring (D.R.D. in Kyocera terminology). The customer wants the fax to answer both the normal ring and the distinctive ring.

It is easy to choose normal or D.R.D. It's not so easy to choose both.

Going back a few years, Canon faxes gave lots of possible Soft Switch settings in their manual, which allowed me to loosen up the ring parameters in a few cases. Canon explained these Soft Switch in excellent detail. Copystar lists the Bit Switches (Sim U882, Soft Switches 182,183, 184, 185, & 186), but offers no detail whatsoever. Has anyone had an occasion change the ring parameters?
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Not sure. but you could try to set it up to auto answer without any rings.

KM's and my position on fax lines:

1 single dedicated, analog phone line. (POTS)

      No DSL
      No Credit Card machines
      No answering machines
      No PC Modems
      Ad Nauseum.

And, I agree; my support starts at the wall jack and ends at the LINE Port with nothing in between or sharing..

Believe me, in 40 years. i've seen every weird set-up imaginable, but i've stuck to this policy and am grateful that KM Hot-Line backs me up.

BTW, Internet Fax is a hoax. IMHO (Like 401K plans).
I know what I know better than anyone else knows what I know.

I agree 100%, I have upset a couple customers by telling them the truth but I haven't wasted too much of my time fixing a problem that isn't mine. Tell you customer that an analog fax line costs about $15 extra bucks a month, If they don't have that then they should close the doors and go home, the same thin goes for people too cheep to pay an electrician $150 bucks to put in a 20amp outlet.

          Problem workaround

No word yet from the hotline. In the meantime, the customer figured out that their voice over IP boxes can run on a couple different types of software. This other software does not differentiate between the ring types. If the hotline calls me back, I'll let them know, too.

            Interesting

I haven't done that one yet but you might try the FRPO values. It might have a web browser for the network fax. Use the IP address from the fax and type it in the address line of your internet browser. You should get the command center for the machine. See if the ring setting are there.

            Good luck
