    [Misc] component testing sensors

Has anyone here ever build a breadboard circuit to component level check a sensor switch? if so could you share the diagram...?

if not does anyone here have the schematic for this sensor

the schematic would be more than helpful...

Why would you want to test a $2 sensor? Especially one that can be stolen from any parts machine made in the last 12 years.

The wiring diagram says pin 1 takes 5V DC, pin 2 is a 5V input (on/off), and pin 3 is ground. But I nearly failed circuits so I can't help you with anything useful.

For pin 2, 3.5vdc counts is the threshold. Under 3.5 = Off. Over 3.5 = On.

Now that's some old-school troubleshooting. It's handy to know when that sensor has no diagnostics.

Typically there are only two fault conditions: Dusty & heat failure (usually near the fuser). =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

ok... I ran across this tonight... the photo sensor is called a photo interupter... and the link below should list how to test it...
        TESTING PHOTO INTERUPTER

Now here is what it looks like from the outside

        from the inside

        as a schematic

for more info go to the link I provided... vcc is 5v
