I may be off here, but when the machine reboots it will incorrectly say "Unknown Toner Installed".
I haven't seen a Status Page ever read that message though.
You might just have to ignore this, or look into RFID tags on the cartridge, or call tech support.
Forums are great, but we still need to check in with Kyo now and again. -
Most likely it wasn't a C1701 code. It was probably a C7101 code.
I've seen a few toner cartridges in which the RFID feature wasn't working, probably two cartridges in the last 3+ years, so its possible. They still work and feed toner, they just don't display the toner usage/level. Another reason you may not see the toner level, is that your tech performed a U020 All Clear, and erased the machines destination. The destination is the brand name that will be on the plaque on the front of the machine. It is set up in simulation U252, Copystar is (66), Kyocera Mita is (02).
That's going to be completely unrelated to the C7101 code. Your tech probably replaced a black developing unit because the rear seals had started to leak, and it was dumping developer in the back of the machine. The developing unit becomes difficult to turn, and damages the black developer drive clutch.
Well your tech has done the difficult half of the job. Now he needs to replace the black developer drive clutch (302FZ93116), and do a color calibration. Oh, an possibly re-enter the machines destination setting. U020 is a desperation measure, which often creates more problems than it fixes. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

That stands for second or third party toner. Original kyocera toner has a chip to identify it. Third party toner doesn't so the unit gives that warning. I have seen it and the previous company i worked for purchased third party toner. if any copy quality issues arise that toner will most likely be your culprit.Comment

Correction: On this machine destination is set in simulation U265.If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
