KM-2050 blank copies through DF only??

I have just obtained a KM-2050 for my new business. Being an ex Kyocera technician myself I wanted to go with a machine I knew well.

I noticed a light patch down the middle of the copies so I removed the glass and cleaned the optics. Doing this fixed my issue. However since reinstalling the glass, I have been unable to copy or scan anything through the document feeder.

On the platen glass everything works perfectly but if I put an original through the feeder it just comes out blank (for both copy and scan).

I have tried opening the DF as the paper moves through thinking that I would get black on the leading edge of my copy (even though the DF jams when I do this a copy is still produced) however it is still white as a ghost.

I have tried multiple times removing the glass and checking for anything that would cause this but I am out of ideas.

Any light someone could shed on this would be appreciated. I don't really want to have to ask one of my old colleagues to come and fix it for me...

    Thanks
    Michael

Well you won't believe this... I scanned about 120 invoices on the platen glass today. My cousin who is an apprentice copier technician come over and I went to show him the issue and the machine ran a copy through the document feeder....

I'm wondering if whatever I slightly knocked has repositioned itself with the optics moving back and forward that many times??? Bizarre but glad to have it fixed!

      We'll here's my guess:

The scanner rail may be dirty at the far end below the slit glass. When light source #1 gets to the end below the slit glass it hits the dry patch on the scanner rail, and light source #1 tips slightly.

I'd clean, and lightly oil the scanners rails. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Well, if it was your cousin the one that figure that out (being barely in training), kudos, that is the usual cause I have seen when copies come out like that, also, you might know and might have already done so, but when you clean the optics, make sure you also clean the reference white strip that is next to the slit glass, some times if its dirty it will have copy quality issues, But all points out to the home position or the shafts not being properly lubed (BE EXTRA CAREFUL with the scanner section, it is a PAIN to re string those cables, even with the RIGS

Had this problem once. There are 2 plastic nubs under the optics that ride on the rails. They tend to pop off. If one or both come off, it can cause this problem.

Are you sure your cousin didn't just flip the originals over before he ran them through the DP?
But I'm trying, Ringo. I'm trying real hard... to be the Shepherd.

I know this is going to sound silly. Could there be a piece of blank paper laying across the slit glass, so that the originals that you scan slide behind this piece of paper? =^..^=

absolutely correct.... check the home position. may be the slit glass not fitted correctly.... for test this remove the platen glass, then moving the scanner unit front and back. u can see while u move the scanner unit towards the home position it will touch the slit glass.... u can push the scanner unit inside.....
