[Jamming] Jam code 31 on TA 500ci

This machine jams every print at the transfer belt unit area. I checked switches, motors, etc... The transfer belt unit is new. The paper is z-folded and not quite making it to the entrance of the fuser. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I'd love some help on this one.

    Thanks...

There is modification for this which requires fitting additional mylars to solve your problem

Are you talking about the mylars that come with a new transfer belt unit? They mount on the transfer belt unit in between the little metal claws with the white plastic wheels that look like little sprockets, right? Yeah, I did that when I replaced the transfer belt unit. Just for clarification, the machine was having the same issue prior to the transfer belt unit being replaced. Any other ideas? Come on Blackcat, don't hold out on me bro...

Usually the transfer belt is ripped the shreds by the time the Z-folding happens.

Did you turn the transfer belt assemby by hand, then with the paper conveying motor (U030). I don't see why you couldn't key the left door and run U030 to watch the transfer belt rotate.

I won't insult you by asking if you removed all the little foamy padding things and the tape. I have good reason to believe there is a thread on Copytechnet for just that, though.

You might take a look at the mylars at the bottom of the left hand door. I've seen where those get mangled, and can cause wrinkles before transfer. Unfortunately, to get a good look at those mylars you'll have to remove the door. It's inconvenient with the spring loading & cable supporting the door, but manageable. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
