    CS 4050 image rotation

I have this 4050 that every now and then will start rotating the image 90 degrees out ie. from letter to letter R. I have seen this after I had a coworker fax me several and about 1/3 or so were turned.
Some background when this first started it did it from the DP also, but after upgrading the firmware, locking the cassette side guides and replacing the HDD about a month ago. It has started doing it from the incoming faxes.
    Has anyone seen this before.

    Thanks

Most likely, the tray width detection is not being detected correctly. When you look at the display, does the affected tray show "11 x 8 1/2" for letter paper, or "8 1/2 x 11" for letter-R paper? That's how it should show. The first number is the paper width (front of machine to back of machine).

I suspect you'll see a display of "8 1/2 x 11" for letter paper. All it takes is a small amount of corrosion or grease to have the tray width PWB read incorrectly. Sometimes all it takes is to slide the side guides back and forth a few times to dislodge the corrosion on the contacts. If that doesn't help, you'll need to clean the PWB and contacts with ElectroKleen, or possibly replace them.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

      Thanks Blackcat.

the sensor was gummed up with grease, paper dust, and a long hair. Does Copystar Tech support not know of this. I have been round and round with them for this problem for about two months. They may be of less use than tits on a boar hog.
