    Waste toner and Alphard.

Goodday, this is not really a verified issue, didnt go through all the step as this is the first time for this machine in this series.

Machine: #550ci, prints: ~10,000 total, coverage ratio: +8%

Trouble: false "Waste toner full" detection.

Found: Waste toner not full but clogged at the neck, and the black rubber part (belly button?) is inward when the container was removed.

    - waste toner auger at the container seems a bit stiff to turn by hand, with the torq limiter in front of it, and small diameter of the coupler, could be an issue later on?

    - since there are two sensors now, WTS1 for full, and WTS2 for almost full(time to order) wouldnt both sensor be logic '1' for the full indication to trigger? (pls see attached)

    - clogging is a concern at the neck.

    just my 2cents.

*WTS1 is located at the neck, WTS2 is located above the black rubber part.
    **thx to Blackcat for pointers.

The plugging at the neck would concern me. Is there any way to observe if the auger is functioning? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Didnt observe the auger. Dont know how to bypass the interlocks. When container is placed in the tray, couldnt turn the coupler by hand I do recall however.

The auger diameter maybe too wide? There's packing around the wall of the container.

          Re: Waste toner and Alphard.

YC16-9 and YC16-10 on the front PWB provide the 24vdc for the waste toner motor (WTM). I don't see a simulation to run that motor. The auger inside the bottle should be very easy to turn manually, when it's not linked to the motor. If it isn't, I'd take a closer look at the bottle itself. Maybe some sort of manufacturing defect?

Is the environmental temperature or humidity exceptionally high? Under normal environmental conditions color toner should flow like water, because it is so fine. The auger is almost redundant. =^..^=

Carrier is part of the waste now hence added stiffness. The guy tried to loosen up the "stuff" in the container, when he pulled the screw driver up, carriers+toner were standing on the tip.

edit: not sure on what i just stated, I havent dug my screw driver in the toner pile before.

Ah, yes. I forgot about the steady supply of carrier being cycled through. It should still flow easily enough, though. =^..^=

                Re: Waste toner and Alphard.

Didnt have Alphards around so I went and check Saturn's waste toner setup. I tried handcranking with box in and out of the tray.

It IS suppose to be fluid, there's probably something wrong with the gearing or the container itself from the one yesterday.
