    color drum oxidizing due to lack of use.

    Howdy gents.


    Got few clients' Saturn that has C and M drum oxidizing pre 250k.

    Appearance: full page of tiny dots, if not observed carefully one might think its developing issue.

    Pattern repeats 96mm in subscan direction, so definitely its the drum cyclinder.


    Has anyone figure out a preventive measure? I know white dots can be polished out with drum refresh(positively speaking). But to fil these lil' dents, only cure is thinning surface layer.



    crazy thought: is voyager drum compatible with saturns?
    Idling colour developers are not healthy developers.

      The actual drum itself may be similar, but not similar enough. The cleaning units are definitely very different. You won't be able to interchange any parts there.

      Preventatively, it's about addressing the buildup of ozone on the primary charge roller surface. If you were to clean or replace the primary charge rollers at more frequent intervals that may extend the life of the drum. Nothing else will really make any difference. =^..^=
      If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

          It's actually the charge roller in the drum unit that is the culprit. The sleeve around the outside has been changed to prevent it.

              I recommend you have the customer run a drum refresh once a week if they aren't using it enough. We had a customer that used black 90% of the time and the color very little. Once they started running into dev unit problems we had them run the drum refresh and dev refresh once a week and the problems went away.
