[CQ] KMC 3232E No black printing or copying.

This box has only 75K. It said K toner low change soon. Customer installed new OEM toner, still said same message. Two days later, all black printing stopped. It warms up with no errors. B/W mode copies blank, color modes print in three colors only, no black. What happened? A clutch? Drums are supposed to be good for about 300K. I'm just shocked it doesn't error out when doing imaging warm up. Anyone seen this before?
    Thanks
    Roy

Depending on age of the K developer unit the rear seal may be damaged. This causes DV to leak out and chew up the gears. I have only seen this with the K dv unit, wondering if the heat from the fuser affects it.

I've never worked on one of these. How do the units come out? A few screws I guess. They must come out the front.

I would highly recommend you get the service manual. However
          1 Remove the Fuser unit.
2 Remove Transfer belt unit (BE VERY CAREFUL)
3 Remove image formation unit (.(the assembly that holds the toner) their is a connector on the right side behind a cover plate. One of the screws is accessed with the toner holder in the up position
4 Remove pin and connector holding dv unit

If you do not have experience with color or kyocera line, I would get the service manual .....These can be a PITA.
          Have fun

check the white coupler for the toner cartridge, is it stiff or free spinning?

free spinning means the gearing broken inside.

Like Geo says. Get the manual, and definitely read the disassembly/reassembly portion. In a sense you are lucky. If it was KM-C4035E it would have chewed up the black developing drive clutch also. The slower models don't have that clutch, just a motor.

In addition, you'll need to do a full color calibration. Again, see the manual. It's all there. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
              1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
              2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
              3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
              4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
              5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
