250ci not displaying correct toner remaining

Have a 250ci, which displayed 10% toner remaining, it then asked for toner, the user took it out shook it, and then it said 30% remaining, it occasionally does this and the users have to wait a couple of minutes for their prints. I have changed the RFID board. It;s on ly happening on Black.

    Cheers

The only trouble I've had with RFID boards is actually unplugging them at the connector through the rear frame (not intentional). There have been some cartridges that came through with not-functional RFID tags, but the machines ran, they just displayed " ... non-OEM toner ... ", and didn't show the bar graph for toner amount.

Could it be, that your customers are doing extraordinarily heavy fill, and that the toner density is sagging enough to trip the "Toner Add" condition? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

They are just printing off average text coverage, nothing out of the ordinary. Is ther a way to stop it "checking" as often?

Not that I'm aware of. It seems like something you can only make worse with fiddling. =^..^=

If your customer is cooperative, perhaps you can have them run a developer refresh when these toner indications appear. If there is toner remaining, it will recover. If there isn't any toner to add, nothing lost. Toner Add stays.

The only negative, is the 6 minutes that it takes to run the developer refresh. If you present it properly, the enduser can feel included, and be the special keyop. Who knows? Maybe they'll love you for it. =^..^=

Have had many that the customer removes empty toner and reinstalls the toner and gets 70% full reading. Have had a customer complain that print job pauses to add toner every couple of pages only to find that yellow was empty, replaced toner and working perfect now. Something is wrong on these boxes...they are almost as bad as Ricoh color...LOL

Toner remaing display is not an exact sience on any machine! However on the 250 you can set the calibration cyle to 'long' and follow all the tweaks associated with firmware upgrades, particularly to V10 and 11.
