    DIY Kyocera KM-4035 question

I decided to fix my own copier (Kyocera KM-4035) and ordered in a maintenance kit. Several of the enclosures for parts specified a minimum software version required for installation.

I entered maintenance mode and printed the report, which return the following values:

    019: ROM Version
    MAIN, MMI, LANGUAGE S1012C 2932LX 29336H
LANGUAGE (Option), MAIN BOOT, MMI BOOT S2021B 29010A 29362D
    PRINTER, NWS, POWERSAVE 146.10
    DICTIONARY(2CX)

KM-NET Viewer shows Engine Firmware to be S1012C-1=90
The enclosure reference software versions as part numbers, such as MAIN: 2FG2931MY

Can anyone tell me if firmware updates are required as I have no way to reference the part numbers to the versions?

    Versions required for new fuser:
    MAIN: 2FG2931MY
    MMI: 2FG2932HU
    Printer
    SOFTWARE ENGINE Ver.A008
    MAINTENANCE SOFTWARE: MS05

Versions required for new various other parts:
    MAIN: 2FGS1015S

If I do need an upgrade... can someone hook me up with the files?

Thanks for your help in advance...

      Thanks for the quick reply!

Does that mean I need to update all the software, or do any of the versions I have meet the upgrade requirements?

The threshold is at Main S2932 = version 134
                You're at Main S1012. That's a good reference which = version 139
There have been a few versions above, the most current being S1015 = version 166

But you are above the threshold, so you can install the maintenance kit without doing the firmware upgrade without doing any harm. If you decide to do the firmware, you will get a little better life from the fuser, among other things. See attached:

My congratulations on actually reading the instructions. You would be surprised how few do.

Well Mr. 5,000+ posts, I clearly made every possible attempt to avoid bad form by begging in my first post, not my third!

                    LOL

I did consult the Almighty Google at great length, but could not turn up anything on how to xref the p/n to version, and the files themselves are impossible to find. I figured straight up begging was my best bet.

Thanks so much for the info. I am a newbie to all this, but I figure I have tools and I'm not afraid to use them. Seemed to me $550 for the kit plus my time to figure it all out was better than the $1,600 the repair place wanted. I mean, the machine isn't even worth $1,600...

I'll be back to post when I break something... lol

                      Re: DIY Kyocera KM-4035 question

                      All went mostly well...

I found a spring and a broken piece of plastic while changing everything out. I'm hoping they were from the last guy, because I have no idea where they came from.

Problem: Tray 1 was always jamming prior to today. Paper was getting crunched up kind of thing. I replaced the rollers today, then did a test copy. It worked. I tried Tray 2 and it worked. Went back to Tray 1 and nothing. I got a Jam code #10 (didn't even try to pull paper). Powered off, checked the assembly again and made sure it was firmly seated. Tried again and got the same thing - it worked once. Wash, rinse, repeat, and on the third try, Tray 1 didn't work at all.

Jam 10 in the service manual says:
Feed switch 1 (FSW1) does not turn on within 841 ms of theupper paper feed clutch (PFCL-U) turning on; the clutch isthen successively turned off for 1 s and turned back on, butthe switch again fails to turn on within 841 ms

                      Any guidance on troubleshooting this?

Never mind. It was a loose connector somewhere. I took it apart again and made sure everything was screwed down tight and it works fine now. Finicky machine...

                          Thanks again everyone.

I am surprised you fixed it, cassette jamming with a found spring and plastic thing.

A somewhat common problem is in the feed unit (which houses the feed tires), a small assembly is spring-tensioned, a plastic "pin thingy" holds it in place. It breaks and causes jamming.
