    [Misc] SCAN TO E MAIL

I have never done scan to e mail before---i know you have to get certain info from the client to make it work, such as host name, port #, etc
if the client doesnt know this info is there a place i can get it?????
And can someone give me a- step by step- instruction on scanning to e mail--- kinda like scanning for dummies
    much appreciated

Do a search. I've explained it extensively on here.
        Hope that helps !

            Hi,
first I would suggest when you first install the machine leave dhcp on.Then switch on the machine and it should pick up a lot of the information you need,ip address, dns etc. Then switch dhcp off so you have a static ip address for the machine.
You need to get the smtp server address from the customer and go to the web browser of the machine and input that and other fields if required. Then add an address in the address book.Test.If the customer is using internal mail server like outlook then it should be straightforward enough. You will always come across different problems but this networking lark is an ongoing learning expierience and an installation can be a 2 minute "piece of pee" or 2 hour ordeal.Best of luck!

Maybe this sounds a bit rude, but all these things can be found in the documentation that is supplied with the machine.

Just check what account settings are in your clients email client such as Outlook or whatever. That will tell you everything you need to know.

Yep, but without DNS, you won't get anywhere.

                      Re: SCAN TO E MAIL

Most email should have a static IP address and if they don't, then it isn't hard to get a machine to use a router or a Google DNS server to relay DNS requests.

If the mail server is internal, use the internal DNS server. If it is external, then use 8.8.8.8 (Googles Public DNS Server) as a secondary DNS server setting on the machine.

Internal DNS can be found by going to the command prompt and typing in "ipconfig /all" (without the quotation marks) and that will give you everything that a computer uses which you can then use on the copier except for the IP address that the computer is using.

Better still is to use a DHCP reservation for the copier so that all that information is automatically gathered by the copier along with the same IP address everytime.
