    KM-4050 DF length sensor adjustments

I have a KM-4050 that doesn't sense the correct length of original. If you block some of the light from the ceiling it works just fine. I have replaced the sensor with new but still same problem. Can't find an adjustment for sensitivity. Has anyone ran into this?

How about re-positioning the machine or the light source? Or changing the light intensity, by removing a light bulb? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I tried removing each of the bulbs one at a time and it still was to sensitive. Of course customer has had the machine located in the same place for two years and claims they have not changed bulbs or ballast lately. Thank you.

This has been a really common problem on a lot of different MFPs and analog copiers. Reflective sensors are not adjustable, so your only option is to change the room light interfering with the operation of the sensor.

I remember one particular occasion where I was trying to identify this exact problem on a Canon DF. This 5'3" woman says to me "Maria never has this problem...". When Maria steps over, She's 6'2", and sure enough, her standing in front of the machine blocked the offending light source. =^..^=

Thanks I'll try some smaller wattage bulbs if they will let me.

Same as Blackcat we had to move the m/c (Kyocera). I had a cannon that when you stood to the right end of the feeder worked ok but not from the front. realised it was the sky light beaming down on it. we also had toner blobs with one because of the air con blowing straight onto the m/c.

A little dab of white out will work, start by covering a 1/4 of the sensor. You may need a little more or less. Worked for me many times.

Sellotape on sensor, or as Geo suggested!

                ..Nice tip Geo.
.OK Google! ... will I need Berrocca this morning?

Better than changing brightness, select bulbs with a different color temperature. That is, the light colors present in the resulting light. For a much better explanation than I can provide see:
