    falcon 2, fax

this is a tough one. Fax acc (J)

It works in a test machine somehwere else, but in the client's place, it cant send nor recieve. No VOIP, and telco came around 3 times, change CO lines...still doesnt work.

It was working all last year but suddenly cease functioning 2 weeks ago. Fax noise is present but no handshake happens.

I've looked at a previous thread here, but...slower baudrate and disabling ecm didnt help.

Anything else I need to look at?

    thx gents.

I think 906 is not associated with signal attenuation and data loss.

thx for the quick follow up.

What 906 does do is re-enable any part of that fax that is disabled. I've never seen it work but it doesn't hurt to try.

my thoughts exactly on the 906 if it was a totaly seperate item but it runs through or via the machine.if the facs board runs ok in another unit then its possibly the copier thats the problem so that may be why the 906 works

You might try re-seating the cables to the fax option. Be especially careful with the ribbon cables.

I transferred a fax kit from one machine (where it worked), to another machine (in which it didn't). I had not been careful enough with the ribbon cable, and a couple of the conductors had peeled back.

I got some truly weird symptoms.
Can't access service mode. Can't download fax firmware. Can't access Fax Defaults in the System Menu (only the double beep). Can't access Fax Reports tab in the Fax screen (button grayed out). "Cover Open" indication when no covers are open. "Please Wait. Cannot be combined." when attempting to fax out. Ribbon cable from the fax control PWB to the main control PWB is damaged by removing the cable without releasing the clasp. Trim off the damaged end, or replace the ribbon cable (3CM27010).

            =^..^=

            1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
            2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.

              thx guys,

906 was the first thing i tried.

but its clearly not the machines now. after few loaners...none can send or recieve now.

phew. I wonder what could really be the cause.

i think that if you have tried more than one loaner and you know those machines worked in other locations it has to be the fax line. have you tried to put a dsl filter on the fax line.
