    Auto tray switching on FS-C2626MFP with PF-520

    Like the title says, I'm trying to enable auto tray select for printing. Paper size is Letter-R for both trays and programmed as such. I've tried the typical PreScribe commands:

    !R! FRPO R1,99;EXIT;
    !R! FRPO R1,1;EXIT;

    Neither has any affect. They may very well not be applicable to this series. Has anyone had any luck enabling auto tray select for printing on this series, and how did you get there? =^..^=
    If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

    How can they screw up something so simple ? Sharp makes it so easy to change and it works. Paper selection & tray switching is the biggest problem on Kyocera devices.
    Hope that helps !

      The PreScribe commands work flawlessly on FalconII, FalconIII, Voyager, and VoragerE series.

      That's the only problem with PreScribe. Kyocera is constantly revising which commands work, and which ones don't. And they don't bother to tell anyone about the changes. =^..^=

        It shouldn't even be a Prescribe command. End users should be able to tell the MFP what functions to use the cassettes for & when to switch or not. I'm looking at needing a local firmware written for a hospital that has 3640's. The trays are marked as different media types, but the MFP will start printing reports on labels if plain paper runs out.
        Hope that helps !

          Hah! It sounds like one of the common irritations with the FalconIII series. When the machine can not match fax send size with an available print paper size the FalconIII will print fax reception on the next most suitable paper size based on a table. Any other machine would just ask for paper to be loaded. The common workaround is to specify a media type for all fax receptions, then designate a tray with that media type. It is the only real way to get the machine to request "Load Paper." when it runs out of the matching size.

          Maybe that would work for you? Default your driver to a unique media type, then designate a few trays with that same media type. Theoretically it should never choose non-matching media types. =^..^=

            Unfortunately, it's a PS data stream that's not using a driver.
            I've got a 2560 that I've set the fax media type to plain. If it runs out of plain, it pulls out of the preprinted prescription paper drawer (set as color) for the confirmation pages.
            Sorry to threadjack your problem & not have a solution for you. I'm just venting.
            Hope that helps !

              Keep in mind that this is a Wise Core .... you may have to make these settings in menu ( paper handling, possibly ).
              Did you check to see if the program you are using has some CRAZY print settings when it sends the data to the MFP ?
              We have seen this sometimes when we change from HP to KYO .

                If anyone is interested, cassettes can be "grouped" from the Printer > Paper Handling > ... section of the web interface. I was directed there by a fine gentleman at another forum, and have confirmed it in the Command Center 6.? operators manual. I'll return with details. =^..^=

                  I talked to the hotline 3 or 4 times regarding "grouping". Nobody really seemed to konw how it was supposed to be set up. Over engineered in my opinion.

                    It sure isn't much like the previous Kyocera incarnations. Here is the one little paragraph that I found describing the function:
                    Group Settings
                    If multiple cassettes are available, you can set up to three groups of cassettes. Cassettes in a group are treated as a single tray. Paper can be fed continuously from grouped cassettes.

                    To setup: Go to web interface (Command Center) > Login > enter password > OK > Printer > Media Input > under Group Settings checkmark the two boxes in the first column for tray #1 and tray #2 > Submit. A message is displayed indicating that tray selection in the driver may be over-ridden by printer default.

                    If you had enough trays you could create three groups (three columns of checkboxes). It does test out. I was pleasantly surprised. =^..^=
