The Density on the new black and white machines seems really high to me. Very dark blacks and a lot of wasted toner. I can reduce copy density easily, but print density is a little more difficult. Does anyone know if you can change the FRPO values on the new machines. They are listed on the Service Status page, and referred to in the manual, but there is no information on how to change them. Anyone know how?

This command works on the FalconIII and Stratos machines (Early Wisecore), maybe it will work on the Gaia?

The digit in red specifies the setting. Three is standard, two and one lighter, four and five darker.
It only affects print density. Experiment.If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

To lighten copy density (print coverage by 30%) update firmware to Ver 4, then U140 image preference-copy set to 0, ok,stop,stop. Thanks for the reply, Blackcat, but my problem is that I can't figure out how to send FRPO commands to the new 4500i. There is no method given in the manual, and I can't find it in the Command Center, either.Comment

The simplest way is to download a free utility called LPR Jar. It can be operated from your laptop or from a USB stick plugged into a networked computer.
GCC File Send Utility
Write your command to a .txt file (Textpad, or Notepad). Name and Save it.
Open LPR Jar.
Enter IP address of destination.
Browse to command file.
Send.
