    Regular Firmware vs Turbo Firmware?

Just a couple of questions about firmware updates for newer Kyoceras.

Turbo only updates things that have changed while the regular firmware updates everything, correct?

When should I use the turbo version or when I can't I use the turbo version might be a better question? Like if I have a machine that has the version 3 firmware but wasn't updated to 4. Can I use the turbo of version 5 or should I use the regular version?

    Thanks!

Actually, I'm having trouble downloading the regular version. I'm not sure how this all works exactly.

Edit: I figured out how to extract the files now but the files are the same size. What's the difference between them?

There's no difference except it wont erase and rewrite whats still current so it's faster.

But usually if you're trying to troubleshoot you want to totally rewrite it anyway to cover your bases

Tech support also likes to hear that you are using the regular firmware vs turbo. Regular is all I carry.

Is it normal when you download the regular firmware for the file name to end in _exe? I can't do anything with it until I change it to .exe but once I do change it works like I figure it should.

Just glancing over the files they look identical except for one additional file in the turbo version entitled ES_SKIP. Would this be all it takes for the machine to know to skip over the drivers that don't need updated?

The first time I tried turbo was on a set up and I used turbo for one machine and ther regular for a second. I think the turbo was 4-5 minutes faster. After that I just used the regular.

I'm pretty sure the "turbo" firmware is more of a Placebo than anything else...

Re: Regular Firmware vs Turbo Firmware?

I'll have to agree with the others. The only situation Turbo might be useful is if you're upgrading (1) version, and you have no issues to address.

If you're trying to fix anything, or are upgrading 2 or more versions, use the Regular. I have enough firmware to carry without doubling the amount. I only use and carry regular. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                  1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                  2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                  3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                  4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                  5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I hear what you're saying, but if there are no issues to address then updating firmware is not only a waste of time but may cause issues that weren't there before. Just look at all the Saturn updates....
