[CQ] KM3040 Has Black Background After Maint Kit(s)?

Hello Copier Pros, hope you had a nice weekend and gave thanks to ALL Who Serve and Have Served.
Well, after two developers, drums, charger etc from 2 different maint. kits, cannot get rid of the black background. Removed drum and developer thinking faulty, but after replacing them with new ones, the same dirty background reappears! Did I miss something? Thank You! Image attached.

Are you using genuine Kyocera toner? Have seen this problem with cheaper toners, in which case, clean out development unit and load with genuine toner.

Thank you daveh12 for your reply! The toner I use is only genuine Kyocera, but I will check it out with a new toner cartridge! Thanks.

I'm guessing the main charge unit is buggered or the contact for it.

That's my guess too. The front of the primary charge has to fit just right to the drum. If it's not clipped in just right you'll get dark prints toward the front of the machine.

You can get very similar effects if the primary charge contact has been arcing. Just remove the primary and examine the contact at the back end. If there is a black arc mark, you'll need to file clean, then re-shape the contact for good contact, and scrape away any black marks.

I've never had to change that rear contact, but it look like a real bugger to replace. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Wait! Re-read that post. It did not say replace primary charge. It said to clean arcing from contact surfaces. If you replace one contact surface, and ignore the other, it will continue to arc. =^..^=

Run a few copies then pull main charger unit and smell the blocks.
Lightly sniff, not snort. If there is a smell like lightning just struck the ground near you, it is arcing.
Ozone is a very distinct smell and should smell the same from front to rear of the corona unit.
The stronger the smell the more it is arcing.

                  Small trick of the trade.

                  Looks like developer contamination.
Take a new OEM toner and DV. Clean the snot out of the toner add sections.
There is no pattern to the marks. Eliminates corona, drum and fuser.
Look around customers office to see if there is some odd toner laying around.

                  Good luck.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?
