c4035e - hdd format - won't print now - control panel buttons dead (display good)

Rescheduled the delivery. Don't know what happened but yesterday machine working perfect - firmware sys 2JD_3000.003.005 engine 2JD_1000.009.001 - did a format hdd and now it won't print - print button on control panel just flashes when I send a print job.

I wasn't even aware there was a problem as yet. Had a sticky button on control panel. Removed it disassembled cleaned reassembled (I know the three connectors are solidly connected to the PCBs in the control panel) - now the display is the only thing that works. The start button illuminates, the power button top right, of course, the printer light flashes when I send a print job that won't output prints since I formatted the HDD

What a clusterfawk. Should have left well enough alone as copier was working perfectly until I formatted hdd and removed control panel.

I know I was careful with control panel - did nothing incorrectly as far as disassembly/assembly.

Any suggestions appreciated. We got a sale on this trade-in and want it gone plus the sales rep has a customer waiting and he's becoming gum on my shoe.

    Thanks in advance!

WHy did you format the HDD? Why did you remove the Control panel? sounds like you need to reflash the firmware
Testing 1-2-3, testing, testing. Is this thing on?

The number 1 on panel was sticking some crap down in there so I took control panel off. Button works fine now though, as written, the control buttons are dead.

Did the format to erase previous customers' docs for security purposes for their benefit.

First, did the HDD format. Did not even check operation after doing that, then took care of #1 button issue (did not even touch right side board area and buttons there just the numeric keypad board)

Hmmmm, ok, I would pull control panel apart again and check for poor plug connections or pinched wires, two, I would format the HDD again, and three upload the latest firmware no matter what version is on the machine now.

thanks for the help. I know all is straight under the control panel - I looked at all with a fine tooth comb before reseating paying particular attention to the connectors.

Since I cannot get any action off the control panel I can't do another format as things are - unless there is is a power-up while holding a key(s) like Canon irs have and give that a try.

Don't have the firmware but got a dealer 4 blocks from here for KM. Guess I'll pay them to come over and do the update. Just the system update good enough or do engine, too?

The firmware is all inclusive. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
              1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
              2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
              3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
              4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
              5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Hey Blackcat don't you wish that you were so good that you never had to recheck your work? I wish I never had to.

I rechecked it. That's why I had it off to begin with.

In any event up and running bad HDD. Thanks for all your help.

Just the fact that you take machines apart and at least look for a problem puts you ahead of the curve compared to a lot of techs...
But I'm trying, Ringo. I'm trying real hard... to be the Shepherd.
