[CQ] FS-C2026MFP Lines on Doc Feeder Copies/Scans

I have done a firmware update and checked and cleaned the glass. The flatbed scanner works fine no lines. I did a 1087 report and ran it through the DF. The lines were no consistent and seemed to change to what was being seen by the scan unit. After that I put a few blank pages through and the first 2 came out with different lines on them then the previous 1087 pages. I ran a few more and the lines cleared up. Ran the printed pages and no lines on them either.

Got a call back today same issue. I have the DF test sheet and tried that no luck. It actually added a line to the center of the first 2 pages I have listed below.

I have an FS-3640 and a FS-1128 that have experienced the same issues. The 3640 had them only on the scanned images the copies from the DF did not have any lines. That one cleared up before I could try the test sheet. The 1128 has them through the DF only on printed copies. On that machine though it happens so infrequently that I could not reproduce it in a consistent manner like the 2026 machine.

I called the hotline but their only suggestion was the test sheet.

    Thank you for any help.

I called the hotline again this time they suggested checking and changing the home position of the scanner. Now I have done that before but that was usually only with one line being presented on the page not multiple.

Try rubbing your thumb on the slit glass several times. Sometimes the gunk can be a bit stubborn and this works for me.

Take the scanner glass out and clean both side of the glass with alcohol and the windex. Also check and make sure there is no dust inside of scanner area, sometimes even fine dust can cause these lines.

The only thing is that when the lines appear if i put in the same page for copy or scanning the lines stay exactly the same.place. If I change the page being copied the lines move. Same thing happens when putting a blank page through that kinda rules out being dirty wouldnt you agree? If the lines go away with just a few sheets of blank paper then I dont think it is a dirty glass or scanner issue.

Correct me if I am wrong though.

I had the same issue with at 1128 you would clean the glass it would be ok for a few copies or a few days then back again. Just about ready to take it all apart when I notice some gray gunk on one of the doc feed rollers. Once I cleaned that off it worked fine. This stuff came from Post-it note residue. It would accumulate on one or more rollers then a page would pick up a very small piece and deposit it on the slit glass every so often. So check the rollers before taken it apart.

See if you have the option of "correct black line" or "scanner noise reduction"

Makes copies a tad lighter but works great on 1128,1820s

I resolved the problem by replacing the scanner unit. Tested afterwards no lines on copies or scans. Before I replaced it though our rep had come in and told us about the black strips they had been saying would fix that issue. I applied those afterwards as a precautionary measure as this customer has become a PITA since this issue has started.
