    Kyocera c4035e destination registration

Quick question for you guys. I have a customer with a c4035e that is having a problem creating new scan to email accounts. When they go into destination registration, via web connection, it requires a username and login to add or delete registrations. I've tried Kyocera logins that I know, Admin00, Admin, admin, 4035, 4000 but nothing seems to work. For the last 5 years they have had this lovely little machine, they have been able to add and remove accounts without issue but, about a month ago, the machine started requesting credentials.

I'm not sure what setting I should be looking for but, I've checked everything I could think of and still nothing.

    thanks in advance!

habik is right. What happened is you got a new IT guy, the kind that likes to put passwords on stuff. The Voyager and VoyagerE series come defaulted to: (no password) meaning it requires no authentication. There is no default, just whatever your lovely IT person made up. Sim U021 will wipe out that password, as well as your network information, scan information, addressbook, job accounting, and the destination of the machine (manufacturer name).

Ideally it would be best to find the twit that put on the password, find out what it is, then knock him in the head a few times to knock a little sense into him. Does he really think he's the only one needing access to Command Center? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Thanks guys, dealing with "IT" people that are never onsite and don't know the companies whole network seems to be one of the greatest hurdles in this line of work...... And what they screw up is always my fault, at least that's what the tell the customer.

On a C4035e can I back up the contacts to USB and reload them after running the u021 sim? Or do I need some obscure parallel double switchback reverse polarity cable that nobody has anymore or perhaps a circa 1990's 128 meg compact-flash card with formatting no longer supported by windows? I hope not, they have quite a few contacts...... There's a 6030 onsite that has the same contacts, can I export from that one?

I'm still kinda new to this stuff (less than a year) and short of Falcon II-III, I'm learning to despise old Kyo's.

Yes you can backup to USB. No need for the obscure parallel double switchback reverse polarity cable that nobody has anymore or perhaps a circa 1990's 128 meg compact-flash card with formatting no longer supported by windows.

It's simulation U917. Enter service mode, 917 Start, insert the USB (1GB or less), when the screen changes from grayed out to distinct select Export > then select the items you want to export > then Start. If there are a lot of entries to export it can take a while, up to 3/4 hour. Then when it's reset do the same thing, except select Import, etc., etc. There is a countdown of a sort. It's been a while since I used this. My enduser had 3000 job accounts to import/export.

If you're going to try to translate the information for the KM-6030, you'll need the world famous Setup Utility to de-crypt, read, edit, then re-encrypt it for the other model. The thing is, that each model family is encrypted differently, so it's not a direct import/export. Why would they do that? That would be too easy.

And I have a bunch of those 128MB CF cards. Machines of this age just can't read 4GB cards.

The network information, scan information, and destination will need to be re-entered. Job Accounting, Addressbook, and special buttons can be backed up. Have fun! =^..^=

Edit: The same customer decided that they didn't want those job accounts, and I discovered it was a lot easier to wipe the machine, than to delete the job accounts. I wrote a procedure. Send a private message with destination email. =^..^=

I'll try and dig up a 1 gig flash drive. I've got a couple 2's and 8's but no 1 gig. This machine has been the bane of my existence since I started doing this, but everybody has 1 or 2 of those machines that kick your butt.

As always, I appreciate the input.
