    Kyocera 180

    Dear all,

    I have copier Kyocera 180; printing OK, print page (STATUS REPORT MAINTENANCE) very good , but copy function not OK (copy is faded)
    Action: cleaned scanner: mirror, lens
    The same result..
    Can you help me ?

      clean mirrors again just with a damp clean cloth .you get a blue film on the mirrors which can give bad copy quality.

          I entirely agree. The gasses from the fuser filter up through the holes in the frames, scanner, covers, vents, and obscure mirrors #1, #2, and #3. Use 99.9% alcohol.

          I've had some success preventatively by using self adhesive mylar to seal up the various unsealed holes in the frames above the fuser. =^..^=
          If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

              If you have good prints and bad copies there's not very much issues can exist. Mirrors, scanning lamp or user-defined settings for copying (toner saving or reduced contrast).

                  Make sure you rub em nice and good after your clean to remove any film from cleaner, and use a small LED torch or the such to check for a film ^as cat said with 99.9% there shouldn't be much film, if any.

                          If your optical unit is OK, perform maintenance mode U060:

                          U060 Description:
                          Adjusts the image scanning density.
                          Purpose:
                          Used when the entire image appears too dark or light.
                          Method:
                          Press the start key.
                          Setting:
                          1. Press the start key.
                          2. Change the setting using the zoom +/- keys.

                          Image scanning density Setting range: from 0 to 23, Initial setting:12


                          Increasing the setting makes the density lower, and decreasing it makes the density higher.
                          3. Press the start key. The value is set.
                          Supplement:
                          While this maintenance item is being executed, copying from an original is available in interrupt copying mode (which is activated by pressing the interrupt key).
                          Completion:
                          Press the stop/clear key. The screen for selecting a maintenance item No. is displayed.
