[Jamming] TaskAlfa 8000i Tearing Fuser Unit

We have a TaskAlfa 8000i in a copy centre and it keeps on tearing the fuser unit after about 80 000 - 100 000 copies. I have monitored it and there is nothing going through the machine that is damaging it. Could it be a paper jam that is removed incorrectly? Anyone with advice?

There is a mod to fix this issue. I believe there is a jig to straighten the copier out where the fuser sits. Log on to kyocera tech support for details.

This series had serious issues with fuser damaging itself when they were first released a couple years ago, but have been better since... there was a tech bulletin about it (search on www.kdaconnect.com for the bulletin "CORRECTIVE MEASURE FOR FIXING BELT DAMAGE" and even a jig to reposition the fuser frame to help resolve the problem.

Occasionally, I still see a fuser that completely shreds itself, even when the previous one almost made yield. It's almost like the heat belt went through a shredder. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I would agree.. we still see some issues, but not as bad as they were in the beginning... I had one fuser belt tear less than 24 hrs after installation.... that was the worst one I think I had to deal with

We do not have any belts shredding anymore, but we still have the bearing failing. The fuser noise gets worse until it stops turning. The silent mode is on.

Our first fuser in the very first machines lasted 800k, the 2nd,3rd,4th,5th about 50-100k. The machine was returned on 6th change.

According to some sources is the speed of the machine is causing the fuser to fail......

After going through the nine different versions of fusers and the adjustment of 1 sheet can go thru but 2 cant horse****, they finally determined a defective belt plate in manufacturing. Once we received new fusers, it seems probably, though not completely solved, as significantly reduced.

                    Good luck.

We had problems with a few of these even after using the jig, seems to be the lower to medium volume ones. We were advised by tech rep to turn on silent mode and reduce sleep to under 1 hour, preferably 30 minutes if you can get away with it. Even with sleep mode set at 60 minutes and silent mode it has helped a lot.

If you haven't used the jig to align the fuser start there 1st.
