    CS 420i with a DP 760(B)

the DP at the customer's office is randomly giving us a 3210 code, 906 it and it runs for awhile.

we brought the DP into the office and while we didnt have time to run it hard, it never acted up. we used one of our DPs on their 420 and no hickups. we put their DP back and the code came back.

the adf is not under warranty. and tech rep is advising to go after 3 different parts. kinda pricey just throwing parts at it.

has anyone else seen this code and any resolution to it?

    thanks

When the CIS fan fails, the CIS unit will overheat. I've seen it a dozen times on the Saturn series. It's never been intermittent though. The CIS goes for over $1000 ... but unfortunately it's the most likely culprit. If you do decide to replace the CIS, order the fan too. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Clean the white roller inside the feeder. The CIS uses this to perform white reference. If it's dingy, the machine is assuming the lamp isn't lighting bright enough, since the white level of the roller should be constant. This usually makes the MFP say that duplex is out of service.
      Hope that helps !

Had this code recently at one of my clients. I've spent over 20 hours diagnosing and trying everything i could think of, until i accidentally heard their it guy saying that lately they are having multiple power outtages during night time. That was the only culprit in my case, so it's worth checking that possibility.
