Kyocera TASKalfa 4551ci Will Not Resume Scanning on ADF After Jam

I have a customer who is consistently annoyed by this [lack of a] feature. When they are scanning a large stack of documents and they get a jam due to a stray staple or something similar (jams are an absolute certainty so "not jamming" is not a solution here) towards the bottom of the stack, the machine asks them to put the documents back into the ADF so it can "count" them but does not allow them to continue where they left off.

Even much cheaper machines made by less reputable companies using inferior (in my opinion) software have this feature. For example, with the Muratec MFX-2550 (no Konica Minolta equivalent for this one as far as I could tell) it will let you clear the jam, add the remaining documents to the feeder and then push "Start" when you're ready. It will then scan and send the document as if the jam never occurred.

Now, I've had two people looking at this for a couple of hours now and they've been able to find nothing. No setting or switch. Nothing. So, I suppose my question is: is anyone aware of a way to enable this feature on this machine? Of course, any answers will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Have you tried turning on Continuous scan? System menu -> Common settings.

They are using continuous scan. And I have some updated info on the situation. Upon jamming, the copier will continue scanning where it left off, but in order to do so you have to put all the originals back in the ADF. So, apparently it's some sort of "safety" feature to make sure it doesn't miss a page or something? I suppose this could be useful if the jam contained an unknown number of multiples and the user didn't know what to do. However, they would prefer the alternative where it just assumes and starts right after the last page scanned.

      Thanks for your response!

If there is such a feature, it would be new to the Alphard2. I've never heard of a setting change like this on any Kyocera. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

According to another tech here the same customer once had an NEC IT6200, which is equivalent to Kyocera Taskalfa 620, that had such a feature. In fact, that's the whole reason they're complaining about this machine.

Yeah, I've never understood this with Kyocera. I know Sharp will tell you to replace the last original to start where you left off. Not from the beginning, it's ridiculous. That being said, I'd look for the cause of the jams. You can disable the skew detect, which causes problems.
            Hope that helps !

Here's a YouTube video demonstrating the issue just in case anyone's interested.

And thank you @tmaged, that's the most useful tip I have received thus far on all the forums I've posted to.

I may have mentioned this already, but I say let's get together a group of the most talented programmers on this forum and reverse engineer this firmware so we can add this feature in. You in? On a more serious note, think of how cool it would be to be able to add custom features to a customer's firmware...

                Thanks everyone!
