    TA 400ci toner display

we have a 400ci that will not show toner level on screen or on the status page, says we have non-oem toner. it is oem. we have replaced the toner with new cartridge, same issue. we replaced the rfid board and it showed toner thru one copy (the status page) then went back to the non-oem thing.

our next hunch per our tech rep is to replace both the rfid and engine board at same time. another tech is going thru this now to make sure no connector was left unplugged or not inserted correctly during another issue that he fought.

    any ideas or suggestions?

I had the same issue a while back and replacing the board behind the toners fixed it.

I did this to myself a while back. There is a union connector through the back frame, and while tugging on connectors to change the engine board, I unplugged the connector at the back of the rear frame:

"Non-Kyocera Toner Installed", "Add Toner Black" or any other color, after changing the engine PWB. Connector at rear frame from the RFID PWB to YC26 on the engine PWB is only partially connected, due to difficulty in removing connectors from the engine PWB. Reseat the connector at the rear frame, from YC26 on the engine PWB to the RFID PWB.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I wish I had tried that 4 years ago, we had one where the Cyan would always indicate non-oem, the end-user lived with it until they upgraded.
